Our Story

In 2007, after much deliberation, Vince VanBeelen and his wife Melissa took a leap of faith and moved their young family out of the bustling Fraser Valley, away from a stable job as a field biologist, to the quieter pastures of the Vernon area to start a landscaping business. Vince has photo evidence that his love of landscaping was beginning to grow already at the tender age of three, a love that he is striving to pass down to his own children as they raise their family in Melissa’s hometown.

In March 2007, 19 years ago, Outdoor Aspects Landscaping was born. With a truck, trailer, some mowers, and a lot of prayer and optimism, the pieces started moving.

Outdoor Aspects Family Business Okanagan, Landscape Business, Vanbeelens

After five years focused mainly on landscape maintenance, it was time to branch out into design and installation. After many years of learning on the job, in 2020, Vince completed training as a Red Seal certified Journeyman Landscape Horticulturist. Paired with his biology degree, the company can confidently offer a wide variety of services guaranteed to be completed to the highest standard of excellence.

From paving stone patios to retaining walls, planting to irrigation, Vince and his team challenge themselves to bring quality craftsmanship and caring customer service to every job they have the honour of doing. God has blessed their work and grown their team to make the current full service landscaping design services possible and Outdoor Aspects seeks to continue to serve the Okanagan through creating beautiful outdoor spaces.

Your Outdoor Aspects Team

  • Vince VanBeelen

    OWNER

A first generation product of an immigrant family from the Netherlands, Vince was born in Hamilton, ON, raised in Smithers, BC, studied in Langley, BC, and now lives in Vernon raising the next generation with his wife Melissa. Vince loves learning and has completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, the Red Seal Journeyman Landscape Horticulturalist program, Certified Basalite, Abbotsford Concrete, and Aquapave installer continuing education. Vince established Outdoor Aspects in 2007 and has worked in it ever since, sharing his love for the backyard get-together while maintaining the curb appeal of the front yard.

  • Jonah Laboiserre

    Sales Manager

Having worked for several years in the landscape construction industry in Saskatchewan, Jonah finally saw the light and moved to the Okanagan in 2021 to join our team. Jonah has been instrumental in ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget. Gaining his Red Seal in Landscape Horticulture, his road to becoming a journeyman was well earned. When not writing up estimates, Jonah can usually be found practicing his MMA or as a proud father, trying to get some giggles out of his young daughter.

  • Ted Schrijvers

    Operations Manager

Don't let his Dutch accent fool you or the fact he may be our most senior member, Ted will easily keep up with those twice as young. Good thing too because his responsibilities include organizing all the crews and there equipment and supplies. Otherwise, if he's not planning his next camping trip with family, he'll be found working on his next house reno or cruising around in his FJ Cruiser.

  • Timothy McFadden

    Lead Hand

As a proud new father Tim’s waking hours are spent chasing his Son around the house or getting some more giggles out of him. Otherwise he'll usually be found neck deep in some house reno or fishing for that elusive rainbow trout on a pristine BC lake. As an apprentice in the Red Seal Landscape Horticulture program, Tim has been installing awesome landscape spaces with Outdoor Aspects on his road to gaining his journeyman certificate.

  • Dustin Mosdell

Lead Hand - Health and Safety Rep

Full of enthusiasm and a quick joke, Dustin's quick smile and easy going attitude has been a great asset to our team. Dustin has grown with the company and now is often leading complex and artistic install jobs that require a fine attention to detail and artistic craftsmanship. These are assets we all appreciate as he apprentices to become a Red Seal Landscape Horticulturalist.

  • Kaydon VanBeelen

    Lead Hand

Yes, he’s the kid in the picture above peaking out from between the mower arms and under his Dad’s watchful gaze. Like Father like son, Kaydon’s skills have been put to great use as he helps clients visions become a reality along with a great client experience. He’s always the one that clients want back, but don’t let him know that or it’ll go to his head. If not found landscaping he’s probably pulling apart his truck or dirt bike “…just because I wanted to, Dad”

  • Anthony Stack

    LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN

Hailing from the Yukon, his toughness has helped him become a highly skilled and seasoned Technician with our crews and one of our newest apprentices. Tony has been applying his years of landscaping experience and love of all things mechanical to growing his skills in an excavator. If he's not found landscaping he's probably working on his low rider or high rider trucks.

  • Peter Kornelsen

    Landscape Technician

Standing beside Peter, you might feel small but the height doesn’t hide his ability to make the most of the work assigned to him. With great organizational skills and consistent work ethic his skills have been a great addition to our team. For an interesting discussion point, you can always ask him something complex about linguistics and get a very educated response.

  • Chris Sadowski

    Landscape Techinician - Mechanic

If you might of felt small next to Peter, just come along side Chris and you’ll feel big again. Don’t let his size fool you he’ll keep up with the best of them. His mechancical aptitude has been a great asset to the company and the defacto response to a breakdown is “Call Chris”. When not working on his own vehicles he’ll be spending time with his family and friends.

  • Sean Mason

    Landscape Technician

One of the newest members of our team and maybe a quieter one but he’s willing to learn and put the time in to grow in his skills and value to the company. We look forward to getting to know him better this season.

  • Tyler Drewek

    Landscape Technician

Another newbie to the crew, but not the landscaping field we are excited to welcome Tyler to the crew and look forward to getting to know him too.

  • Logan VanBeelen

    Landscape Technician

Yes, another one following in his Fathers footsteps, at least for the summer months when not in school. Logan’s hard work ethic has earned him some endearing nicknames and a respected place on the crew. The future looks bright for the aspiring young landscaper.
